Nintendo Entertainment System (NES)
Nintendo Entertainment System, also known as NES, is a home console manufactured by Nintendo and released in July 1983 in Japan as the Famicom, and in October 1985 in North America. It was designed to revive the video game industry after the crash of 1983 and introduced now-iconic franchises. Popular titles for the NES included Super Mario Bros., The Legend of Zelda, and Metroid. During its lifespan, over 700 titles were released. The NES was a groundbreaking success, establishing Nintendo as a household name in gaming.
